NUJ rules?

The NUJ in the Red La La Land

So what is to be first? The good news or the bad news? The good news? OK then, here it is.

NUJ

Guardian News & Media, the owners of the Guardian and Observer are going to get rid of another 100 staff on top of the 80 red bits of rubbish they got rid of earlier this year. Now as a rule I do not like to see anyone lose their job but for rags like the Guardian I make an exception and I would love to have images of sobbing NUJ members being escorted from the building with their little cardboard boxes and their "pot" plants.

The company is currently losing a fantastic £100,000 a day and now only survives on the advertising revenue from the government and local authorities that places their already gone non jobs. You know I think I will crack a can to celebrate. Tssshhh. Help them lose even more jobs.
Join the Boycott the Press Campaign.

Of course the NUJ are not happy about this and are having a whine and begging for the owners not to close down all their "local" rags and lose "its talented pool of journalists." Roll on the floor laughing at that one. They have about as much "talent" as a brick does for floating.

Well that is the good news. Now about the bad news. Sorry, but there are still 19,000 members of the NUJ and they are still working flat out in keeping the truth from the British People - which I will return to in a couple of paragraphs or so.

Now for a bit of a laugh. Looking for information about a new website that the NUJ have announced they are creating, that will set out "key questions" to ask BNP politicians - what happened to the No Platform? - I learnt a few other things about the NUJ.

Their General Secretary is the communist Jeremy Dear who counts among his friends, the likes of George Galloway, Paul Scarrat of the UAF, Ian Wood of our old friend, the Manchester Evening News and a horde of names from the various moslem organisations around Our Country.

But the bit that made me laugh was reading about the NUJ Honourary Treasurer, Anita Halpin. Anita is also the millionaire chairwoman of the Communist Party of Britain and is known as Stalin's Granny and is considered a bit of an hardliner even for a Marxist.

The row will no doubt be acutely embarrassing for a committed Marxist like Mrs Halpin and her equally hardline husband Kevin. They were once dubbed 'tankies' for supporting the Soviet Union's invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 and had not boasted of their inheritance to comrades.

You can read how Anita came to be worth possibly £100 million by going here and learning how she inherited some paintings from her Jewish grandparents.

And how much of this money, did this Rosa Klebb look alike donate to her party when she came into all this wealth you ask? Well I can tell you, if you can follow the noughts. A magnificent £9,310. Way to go comrade - each to his or her needs and yours are clearly greater than the evil cause you support.

So what have the NUJ produced to counter the effects of the British National Party. Well they have produced this document here as a guide to reporting on the BNP and some other issues that will interest you. I really recommend you read it, as it reveals just how barking mad the members of the NUJ are.

Amongst all the madness though is something that if I were a sane NUJ journalist would worry me:

Do not sensationalise race relations issues.
It harms Black people and it could harm you.
Could harm you? What do they mean by that? Are they threatening their members? Seems that way to me.

I will be going through their "guidelines" in a later article.
