Expenses balance set to benefit youngsters in the north west

26. Jun, 2009

THE British National Party is going to set a new higher standard in politics when our two MEPs-elect, Nick Griffin and Andrew Brons, take their seats in the European Parliament on July 17th.

In both the North West and the Yorkshire & Humber regions our MEPs are setting up a social fund to directly benefit youngsters in their constituencies.

The fund will be used to buy sport and recreational equipment and to provide financial support for associations that help to give youngsters a sense of purpose. It is hoped that the projects will help get those who feel ignored and let down by society, off the streets and into something that will channel their energies in a constructive direction.

Nick and Andrew will be contributing to the fund, via the European Parliament, by donating their excess travel and accommodation expenses.
It is common practice amongst MEPs for this balance from the generous allowances to be kept for personal gain, but the BNP’s commitment to clean-up politics mean this money will now go to those in the constituency.

Also being donated to this community fund will be the savings both MEPs make by paying the flat-rate 15% tax on their wages. Most of the other British MEPs pay this balance to the Exchequer, but Nick Griffin made it clear that this won’t be the case for the British National Party MEPs.

“We shall not be giving one penny towards fighting illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and we shall not help pay for the systematic destruction of the British identity which has been the driving force of past Labour and Conservative Governments,” he said.

Both MEPs have already pledged to give 10% of their wages to independent community groups in their constituencies in order to ensure that British traditions, such as St George’s Day celebrations are maintained and encouraged.
