By Jennifer Matthys - Members of Parliament have rejected the notion of Halal meat being served in their restaurants as the method of death offends some of the members of the Houses of Parliament, yet still it’s served in our schools to our children, to our Armed Forces and in our hospitals.

Muslim MPs and peers have been told that they cannot have Halal meat served in the MP’s 23 restaurants and cafes because the method of killing the animals by slitting their throats without first stunning them is offensive to many of their non-Muslim colleagues.

It is not only hypocritical, but also disgraceful that the Houses of Parliament, which have allowed other companies, including but not limited to the Co-Op, Marks and Spencer, KFC, Dominos Pizza and Subway to provide Halal food to their customers, without having to declare it as Halal, have ruled it out on their own premises!

Neither the House of Lords nor the House of Commons serve Halal meat in their restaurants.
